The Butterfly Cabinet

January is a dreary month for all – exams and dieting dampen our already glitterless lives.

This grey morning I stepped out of the exam hall and dragged Jake along for a bite of brunch at the not-so-dreary Butterfly Cabinet

A stone’s throw away from Chillingham Road metro station is this well known cafe on the corner.

Cosy and kitsch, it’s the ideal spot to while away a morning with a cuppa.

I’d heard about this place over and over, consistently rumoured to have outstanding food

I ummed and ahhed over the vast menu (Jake took one look and had decided instantly)

I figured you absolutely cannot go wrong with a simple Full English.

A perfect portion size of 2 eggs, 2 sausages, 2 bacon rashers, 2 hash browns (my fave) and a hefty helping of beans

Jake went for the Vegi USA

3 Stacked buttermilk pancakes, 2 fakey bacon, 2 quorn sausages, 2 hash browns, maple syrup and butter
And what’s a date without a naughty side helping of extra calories?!
Just look at that beauty
A generous helping of fried potatoes and caramelized onions, salty and sweet at the same time with just the right amount of kick for the morning!
I can’t imagine a better place to while away a hangover after a big night – this place has all your needs covered, from coffees to teas to smoothies.
As much as I tried to convince Jake to stay so we could sample the lunch menu, we gave into our bulging tums and headed on our way (although not before guzzling the Lovehearts we got with the bill!)
Flutterby Butterfly, we’ll be back!
