Homemade Lemonade

The sun certainly has put its brightest, shiniest hat on for us this week

So what better way to make the most than make some fresh homemade lemonade, sit on the balcony and soak up the rays?

If only I had a wonky lettered sign calling ‘lemonade for sale’, I could sit on the doorstep and sell it.

Trust me, you’d buy it.

I used:

7 lemons

roughly 2 cups caster sugar

roughly 4 cups water

(all was to taste though, so I’m not sure of exact quantities!)

Using a lemon zester squeeze as much juice out of the lemons as possible, pouring it into the jug as you go

On a hob make a simple syrup by adding 2 cups water and the sugar and stir till the sugar’s dissolved completely

Add this syrup to the lemon juice

Stir and taste, add more lemon juice or sugar depending on if you find it too sweet/sour.

Add more water to dilute it to the desired strength

Refridgerate for 30-40 minutes

Serve over ice with a slice of lemon and drenched in the hot afternoon sun

When life gives you lemons, eh?!
