Treacle Tart

Treacle Tart is my Granny’s favourite dessert

She always tells us the stories of how she’d search and test every pub in the city to find a decent treacle tart.

Eager to earn some brownie points and keep my cooking up on holiday, I decided to give it a go.

To my delight, it’s probably the easiest thing I’ve made, and tasted amazing!

You’ll need:

250g Golden Syrup

Juice of 1/2 Lemon

25g Dried White Breadcrumbs

1 Shortcrust Pastry Base
(I cheated with this due to the restrictions of ingredients and equipment in the holiday home so bought a ready made one, but feel free to make your own!)

Combine the syrup, lemon juice and breadcrumbs in a mixing bowl

And spoon into the pastry case

Pop into a preheated oven at 180°C/gas mark 4 for 20 minutes until golden brown

Serve with thick double cream and watch as faces light up!

The perfect foolproof crowd-pleaser.
